But the new lawsuit goes farther in arguing that Lucas is using his YouTube videos to "demonstrate and promote the hacks he sells, and to direct those who watch the videos to the websites where he sells them." Use of those mods constitutes copyright infringement and breach of the game's EULA, Epic argues, echoing lawsuits filed against Fortnite cheaters filed last year. That channel focuses on entertaining moments brought about with Fortnite hacks that provide players with automatic perfect aim, reveal hidden items and enemies, and more. Perhaps most distressingly for Rockstar and Take-Two, the mod also let players generate arbitrary amounts of virtual currency for themselves or other players online, which could have a direct effect on the game's microtransaction-driven bottom line.Īccording to a federal lawsuit filed by Epic in a North Carolina court (again reported by TorrentFreak), YouTuber Brandon Lucas is the man behind the 1.7 million-subscriber Golden Modz channel (with some help from Colton Conter, aka Exentic, who is also named in the suit). The Infamous "mod menu" gives users pretty much full control over the world of Grand Theft Auto universe, online or off, granting abilities that include teleportation, flying, and full environmental manipulation. Authorities are looking for evidence of the creation or distribution of "any software that provides a player of Grand Theft Auto V access to unauthorized features." The first such story comes from Rockstar and Take-Two, which have convinced an Australian court to freeze the assets of five people believed to be behind Grand Theft Auto V cheating software known as "Infamous." The full court order, as reported by TorrentFreak, also allows authorities to search the homes and computers of Christopher Anderson, Cycus Lesser, Sfinktah, Koroush Anderson, and Koroush Jeddian. But some game makers are increasingly using the courts to try to stop the spread of mods that give players an unfair advantage, as highlighted by a pair of stories this week. If this dosen't prove that rockstar only care about money more than playability well.people must be blind as moles. It's pretty standard for game developers to use a variety of technical and community management methods to try to stop cheaters from ruining the online experience for legitimate players. On over 5 sessions, im not joking.4 of them included atleast one low level griefer, and one of them even owned an mk2 oppressor at level 20. As i said: the rockstar manuver of making gta 5 a free game on epic games was well aimed, they knew that the 8-11 years olds would spend Pa and Ma's money on a PEGI 18 game (normally prohibited at them, but we are in 2020, parent's dosen't give a crap anymore about their unwanted childs) for overpowered weapons like the mk2 oppressor and other annoying armored vehicles. Im starting to play the game even less that i used to do cause of this reason: cause people dosen't even finish to install the newgame, that go online and start random killing the others with free grenade launchers and other bullcrap. Maybe nerds wouldn't annoy you over and over.but stupid newcomers with the free game and free explosive weapons will do that. I always liked the idea of free roam in a calm and composite lobby of atleast 10 users, all focused with their money gaining tasks, with this new rockstar manuver it basicly become impossible. Im level 100 and i LEGIT buy the game at September 2019, i managed with my resources to achieve a fairly decent ammount of ingame money, and all of this.without griefing and annoying the others (omg, omg you aren't normal King, go see a doctor you psychopath!). The problem is this: when you put for free a game that is worth 40 dollars if not less (and is famous like gta 5), you inevitably screw the whole community in one blow. This is how exactly went at Rockstar's HQ i swear. They thinked "oh let's put our games for free on their gaming platform, so the kids who uses to play fortnite would maybe invest the whole family patrimony on our sharkcards instead of buying a skin on fortnite". Putting a 40 dollars game for free on the original platform of fortnite is basicly stupidity or as i thinked.a well aimed glare at the wallets of fortnite kid's parents. My thoughts: the biggest cash and grab manuver of rockstar by far.
